| _______________ | 1 | NYC's biggest rock and punk event for 2008! |
MegaPlatinum Entertainment in association with The Trash Bar in Brooklyn NY, is proud to announce the Live at The Trash Bar Festival - A 3 day celebration of the New York Rock and Punk underground featuring 16 of NYC's best rock and punk bands, including many Trash Bar favorites. The event takes place June 4, 5, and 6, 2008. In the spirit of documentaries such as the Decline of Western Civilization, the work of Joe Rees in San Francisco, and The Dead Boys and Bad Brains live at CBGB longform videos, not to mention classic live albums like The Velvet Underground at Max's Kansas City, Johnny Thunders and The Heartbreakers LAMF at The Speakeasy, and even Cheap Trick's Live at Budokan, we are capturing the excitement, enthusiasm, and aesthetic of the New York rock and punk scene in 2008 from the bands that make it happen, and in the one club in New York that properly showcases their live performances on a nightly basis.
You already know why this has to happen. You've heard of the legend of New York clubs like Max's Kansas City, CBGBs, and the Continental, which collectively launched the careers of bands like The Ramones, D Generation, The New York Dolls, Blondie, Television, The Talking Heads, and countless others. The spirit of rock and roll is alive and well in New York, and today The Trash Bar is carrying the flag for this movement, being an early home for bands such as Valient Thorr, The Blue Van, TV on the Radio, and The Bamboo Kids, to name a few. It may have moved from the Lower East Side across the east river to Williamsburg, Brooklyn, but the attitude and excitement hasn't dulled one bit.
The festival will be documented in ways that no other event held at a rock n roll club has been.
We are building a separate recording studio in the lounge of the club to record directly to analog reel tape for an fall 2008 release on a limited edition 7" vinyl 4 record set. Other tracks from the event will be available at MegaPlatinum's own Bittorrent peer to peer (p2p) Filesharing network in the coming weeks. Several cameras will be shooting all of the footage in HD for inclusion on our sister action sports and rock and punk video site, Stalefish.tv
NY's finest DJ's will be on hand - The legendary DJ Mojo, spins on Wednesday, while American Hardcore and American Hair Metal author Steven Blush, followed by noted producer and all around rock n roll guru Dean Rispler spin on Thursday and Friday, respectively.
In addition, we will be offering a sneak peak of the new album from Trash Bar favorites Valient Thorr, whose new album comes out June 16, and we will be offering prizes and giveaways courtesy Volcom Entertainment.
Bands playing include: Electric Shadows, Ex Humans, The Homosexuals, The Everyothers, The Bullys, The Nick Vivid Effect, The Naked Heroes, Super Potent Death Baby, Chumley, One Last Shot, Kissy Kamikaze, The Rats, Karen Curious, Soft Black, Cathy, and Girls Like Cigarettes.
Tickets are ONLY $6 for Wed and Thursdays shows, and $7 for Friday. Advance tickets are on sale now at www.megaplatinum.net
